Vingerverven vervolg

Eindelijk zijn nu ook mijn "pannentjes" binnen. Ik ga ze waarschijlijk als soepkommen gebruiken. Ik hoop dat ik nog een keer de kans krijg om er minimaal nog 2 bij te maken.

Vingerverven

Een aantal maanden geleden hebben wij in de Stempeltuin van Eefke Moes een workshop gevolgd over poselein verven. Deze werd gegeven door Heleen van Loon uit Doornenburg.
Het resultaat van iedereen was verbluffend. De verbazing was zo groot, omdat niemand, van degene die aanwezig waren, zelf kon tekenen of schilderen. En......alles werd met 1 vinger gedaan.
De verf moest nog wel in een speciale oven gebakken worden. Hierna kun je het zelfs in de vaatwasser zetten. Heleen leerde het ons in een paar uur en is toen naar huis gegaan met het achterlaten van de speciale verf en toebehoren, zodat wij nog verder konden gaan. (heel erg aardig van haar). De eerste afgemaakte producten heeft ze toen vast meegenomen om in haar oven te zetten. Eefke en ik zijn ze in Doornenburg op gaan halen. Na een heel hartelijk ontvangst, met koffie en taart, kregen wij een rondleiding in haar boerderij die ze volop aan het verbouwen is. We raakten niet uitgekeken. Hier wordt ook een ruimte gemaakt waar Heleen weer workshops gaat geven. Ik heb begrepen dat je je in januari 2009 weer op kunt geven voor deze workshops. Dit is niet alleen porseleinverven, hoewel dat wel een aanrader is.
Het eerste resultaat van mij kun je hieronder zien. Het is een plat schaaltje van de Xenos. Als alles goed gaat volgen er ook nog foto's van de 2 soepkommen die ik beschilderd heb, maar die moeten nog opgehaald worden.

Finger painting.
A couple of months ago, we had a workshop in the “Stempeltuin” of Eefke Moes about painting porcelain. This workshop was given by Heleen van Loon from Doornenburg. Everybody’s results were stunning. The surprise was so big, because nobody that was present could draw or paint themselves. And…. This all was done with just 1 finger.
The paint did need to be baked in a special oven. Afterwards it is even possible to clean it in a dishwasher. Heleen learned us this in a couple of hours and then went home and left the special paint and products, in order for us to be able to continue. (very nice of her).She took the first finished products with her to bake them in her oven. Eefke and I went to Doornenburg to collect them. After a very warm welcome, with coffee and cake, we got a tour in her farm, which is currently under construction for renovation. There was so much to see, we could have been there for hours. There is also going to be a separate space there where Heleen is going to give workshops again. I understood that it is possible to start signing in for these workshops in January 2009. These workshops are not only about painting porcelain, even though I recommend this strongly.
My first results are shown below, it’s a flat plate bought at the Xenos. If everything goes well, pictures of my two hand painted soup bowls will be put here as well.

Geen tijd

Omdat ik het nu veel te druk heb met het maken van een artikel voor de Hobbyhandig heb ik een oudje op mijn blog geplaatst. Deze canvas heb ik gemaakt met behulp van de cricut. Het is een kadootje voor een vriendin van mijn jongste zoon om op haar studentenkamer te hangen. Ze is nogal gek van Disney. Ik heb het in een middag gemaakt, omdat mijn zoon er toen pas achter kwam dat hij die avond naar dat feest moest en vergeten was om aan mij te vragen of ik het wilde maken.

No time
Because I am very busy with making an article for the Hobbyhandig, I decided to put some old work of mine online. This canvas was mad with help of the cricut. It’s a gift for a friend of my youngest son, to put this in her student house. She is rather fond of Disney. I made this canvas in just 1q afternoon, because my son didn’t realize he had a party that night and forgot to ask me to make it.

De voortuin 2

Dit zijn de allerlaatste foto's van de tuin. Nu staat ook het lantaarntje erin en is hij echt helemaal klaar. De lampjes branden s'avond gezellig. Misschien dat er in het voorjaar als de bloempjes bloeien ik nogmaals een paar foto's maak en die op mijn blog zet, maar voorlopig is iedereen verlost van mijn tuin.

These are the latest pictures of my yard. The small lantern is in place and now it is completely finished. At nights the lights turn on and it is really nice to see. Maybe I’ll make some extra pictures during spring when the flowers are in blossom, but for now you’re released from my yard.

Natuurlijk kon ik het niet hebben dat Agitte een mooie tuin kreeg, dus heb ik dezelfde tuinman bij mij zijn gang laten gaan.

Of course I was jealous of the yard Agitte was getting, so I hired the same gardener to work his magic for my front yard.

Dus vrijdag 3 oktober 2008 konden Herman en mijn vader hun agressie kwijt in de voortuin. Er was een container geplaatst, want er moest heel wat zwart zand uit en dan weer geel zand in.

So on Friday October 3rd 2008, Herman and my father could release all their aggression on the yard. We hired a container, because loads and loads of black sand needed to be dug out and new yellow sand needed to be put in.

Maandag 6 oktober 2008 stond s'avonds Raymon met Brian op de stoep om een begin te maken. Die avond hebben ze al een groot gedeelte af, omdat deze jongens niet weten wat pauzeren is. De buurt was bijna nog enthousiaster dan wij met het resultaat tot nu toe. Ik weet niet of dat kwam omdat het resultaat tot nu toe al beter was dan onze oude tuin, maar ik heb mijn vermoedens.

On Monday the 6th of October, Raymon and Brian were here in the evening to start with the tiles. They came a long way that night, because apparently they don’t know the meaning of the word break. The neighborhood was if possible even more enthusiastic than we were with the result so far. I’m not completely sure if this is because the result so far is already way better than our old yard, but I got some ideas.

Dinsdag 7 oktober 2008 waren ze er s'avonds weer. En wat niemand eigenlijk verwacht had.... de tuin kwam af. Herman en mijn vader hebben ook toen weer hard mee moeten werken. Zij zorgden ervoor dat er stenen waren en eventueel zand (geel en/of zwart).

On Tuesday the 7th of October 2008 Raymon and Brian returned in the evening. And beyond any expectations, they finished the yard. Herman and my father had to help with some hard labor. They made sure the tiles and if needed sand was present (yellow and/or black sand).



En na 2 avonden hard werken, mag het eindresultaat er zijn. Ik, Herman, mijn ouders, de buurt en zelfs Bart zijn erg gelukkig zoals de tuin er nu uit ziet. Het is strak, modern en goed te onderhouden.

And after 2 nights of hard work, the finished result is something to be proud of. Me, Herman, my parents, the neighborhood and even Bart are very happy with the new look. It’s modern and easy to maintain.

ARTSpecially

De nieuwe ARTSpecially komt weer uit. Als ik het goed heb ligt hij vanaf 9 oktober ook in de winkels. De binnenkant moet net zo mooi zijn als de buitenkant. Er staan weer hele mooie projecten in.Deze keer heb ik ook weer mijn steentje bijgedragen.

The new ARTSpecially is due to appear. If I’m not mistaking, the new edition will be in stores October 9th. The inside is just as nice as the outside, some very nice products are placed and I also had a contribution in this edition.

En ja, ook het ARTSpecially event komt er weer aan. Zoals je kunt zien wordt iedereen op 4 en 5 april 2009 weer verwacht in Zeist. Natuurlijk wordt het nog gezelliger dan vorige keer.

And something to remember, the ARTSpecially event will be happening soon. As you can see, everybody is expected to be in Zeist on the 4th and 5th of April. And if it’s possible this is going to be even more fun than last time.

8 dagen naar Ron in Schotland

Het was voor ons een kleine vakantie na 2 jaar. MAAR..... het voornaamste was toch wel, dat we na 4 maanden Ron weer zagen. Hij haalde ons op bij het vliegveld van Edinburgh, om samen met ons naar het Apex hotel te gaan, waar hij stage loopt en waar wij 4 nachten verbleven. Ron had het allemaal heel goed geregeld voor zijn vader en moeder en we werden lekker in de watten gelegd. Hierna hebben wij 1 nacht bij Ron doorgebracht om de volgende dag, donderdag, door te reizen naar het Apex hotel van Dundee, waar wij 2 nachten zouden slapen.De laatste nacht mochten we weer bij Ron slapen in Edinburgh.

8 days in Scotland to visit Ron.
For us it was just a small holiday after 2 years. But… the most important thing was that after 4 months we could see Ron again. He picked us up from Edinburg Airport, to take us to the Apex hotel. He’s been taking his placement there for the past 4 months now, and we got to spent 4 nights there. Ron took care of everything for his mom and dad, and we were really spoiled there. Afterwards we spent 1 night at Ron’s apartment to leave the next day, Thursday, for Dundee. We stayed two nights at the Apex there. The last night was back at Ron’s apartment in Edinburgh.

Van Edinburgh hebben we in 3 dagen bijna alle bezienswaardigheden van dichtbij bekeken. Als eerste het kasteel, wat wij ook al vanuit ons slaapkamerraam goed konden zien. De andere dagen zijn we nog geweest naar: Mary Kings Close, de Weverij waar stoffen voor kilts werden gemaakt, 3D film van het monster van Loch Ness, Wiskey experience.

While in Edinburgh, we saw the most touristic parts up close in just 3 days. The first was Edinburgh castle, of which we already had a nice view from our hotel room. The other days we went to: Mary King’s close, the weaver in which the fabrics for Kilts are made, the 3d movie of Loch Ness and the whisky experience.

Dundee was een tegenvaller. Het is een lelijk stadje waar echt niets te beleven valt. Het enige wat je daar zou kunnen bezoeken is een zeilschip. Verder valt er echt niets te beleven.

Dundee was a bit disappointing. It is an ugly little town with not much to do. The only thing available was a sail ship. Besides that, there is nothing to see.

Wel is ons opgevallen dat de Schotten erg aardige mensen zijn en dat alle restaurants die we bezocht hebben, ook Subway, je ontzettend goed eten voorzetten. Jammer is alleen dat er bijna geen echte schotse restaurants zijn. We hebben dan ook gegeten bij een italiaans, een amerikaans, een visrestaurant, nog een italiaans, een frans en een india's restaurant. Gelukkig hadden ze wel allemaal een schots tintje

We did notice that Scottish people are really nice people, and that every restaurant there, even subway, serves very nice food. It was kind of sad that there are not many restaurants with a Scottish menu. While in Scotland we ate at an Italian, American, fish, another Italian, French and an Indian restaurant. Luckily they all had some Scottish influences.
